“Every morning I am fortunate to wake up to the beauty of the coastal marshlands of the Golden Isles of Georgia. Seeing it through the eyes of a painter makes it even more beautiful…..more spiritual”.
Having worked artistically as an Interior Designer for over forty years, I
always had this thought that I could and should paint. I finally made the
time to pursue this dream in 2002.
I grew up in Chicago, left home to attend Purdue University and ended up
moving to St. Simons Island shortly after graduation. St. Simons has
been my home where I raised my family and pursued a career in Interior
Design. It was only after my three daughters left home that I turned my
interest to oil painting. It was love at first brush stroke.
Recently, having the opportunity to travel to Australia for a couple
months each year, has opened another influence in my artistic pursuits. I
drawn my inspiration from the landscapes and culture of the Golden Isles,
my family and the places I travel.
To paint is to live in the moment. This quote by Mervyn Levy from
Painting for All sums up my feelings about my quest into the painting
world. “To take up painting, no matter the age, or point in one’s life, is
to have entered into a new, and deeper awareness of the whole meaning
of existence, to have tasted spiritual refreshment, and to have found the
perfect form of creative relaxation.”
